County Releases 2017 Coordinated Election Results, Ambulance Sales Tax (#1A) Passes By Wide Margin

Nov. 8, 2017 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo.—Clear Creek County completed its 2017 Coordinated Election, yesterday, and here were the results (by category):
County Ballot Issue 1A: Funding the Clear Creek Ambulance Department Services by an increase in the County Sales Tax Rate by 0.65 percent—64.37% (1,613 votes) voted YES/FOR vs. 35.63% (893 votes) voted NO/AGAINST. The sales tax will begin January 2018.

Other Elections:
- City of Idaho Springs Mayor—Michael L. Hillman, unopposed, 2nd term
- City of Idaho Springs City Clerk & Treasurer—Diane Breece, unopposed (incumbent)
- City of Idaho Springs City Council Ward I—Scott Pennell (Write-in)
- City of Idaho Springs City Council Ward II—Michael L. Vieweg, unopposed
- City of Idaho Springs City Council Ward III—Robert T. Bowland, unopposed
- Clear Creek School District RE-1 Director Dist. B—James Houston, unopposed
- Clear Creek School District RE-1 Director Dist. C—Jennifer Cassell defeats Scott York          1,311 votes to 549 votes.
- Town of Georgetown Ballot Question 2A—YES/FOR (217 vs. 67 NO votes)
- City of Idaho Springs Ballot Issue 2B—YES/FOR (278 vs. 157 NO votes)
- City of Idaho Springs Ballot Question 2C—YES/FOR (301 vs. 126 NO votes)

  Out of 7,929 registered voters, 2,542 ballots were cast—32.06%. (unofficial results).
“Residents made their voices heard and showed their sincere concern in maintaining current EMS ambulance services within the County by approving Ballot Issue #1A, overwhelmingly,” said Keith Montag, County Manager. “In light of our continued budget challenges and decreasing property taxes in the coming years, this voter approval ensures resources are available to continue EMS services residents and visitors rely upon every day.”
