“Ride Free” Next Month on County’s Transit Bus, ‘The Prospector’

Nov. 15, 2017 - Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – The Clear Creek County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) approved making December 2017 free for anyone riding on the County’s transit bus, ‘The Prospector’.
“Since we started nearly a year ago, ridership has grown steadily every month, and we wanted to extend that success and holiday spirit with free rides next month,” said JoAnn Sorensen, County Transportation Liaison.
The 14-passenger vehicle, equipped with a hydraulic lift for special needs and other requirements, runs Monday through Friday, with two loop routes in the morning (7:15am – 10:15am), and two in the afternoon (2:15pm – 5:15pm). The route begins in Georgetown, goes to Empire, then Dumont (Post Office), then stops in Idaho Springs (Ride Stop, Primary Care Clinic, and Safeway)---then, returns along the same route. For more information, check out the Clear Creek County website (above), and look for the ‘County Bus Transit’ tab on the upper left hand side.
“We’re small, but we’re really proud of ‘The Prospector’, and the services it provides residents and visitors every day,” said John Bryan, County
Communications Director. “We help people get to work, connect with the Bustang (which travels to Denver and/or Glenwood Springs), or just do a little shopping for their families,” he added.
While the month of December will be free, books of 10 tickets may be purchased on board the bus at a discounted rate. In addition, local businesses can advertise on the bus, via car magnets.
