County Earns Top Honors for 2016 Annual Financial Report

Dec. 5, 2017 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo.  –Clear Creek County received the ‘Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting’ for its 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).  According to a press release from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), this is “…the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management...”  Clear Creek County’s Finance Department earned the award, for the second year in a row. 
“I am truly honored to accept this recognition on behalf of the great team Clear Creek County has,” said Carl Small, County Finance Director.  “Being fiscally responsible to and for the citizens of this County year after year is what we always strive to do, and these honors highlight the hard work we do to ensure the County remains financially viable for generations to come,” he added. 
According to the GFOA release, the CAFR “…has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR…”

The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.  It provides top quality publications, training programs, services, and products designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management.  The association is headquartered in Chicago, IL, with offices in Washington, D.C.
