Public Health Reminds Residents Child Health Plan Still Available

March 27, 2018 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo.  – Clear Creek County’s Public Health team wants to remind residents that the Child Health Plan (CHP ) low-cost health insurance is still available, despite previous budget concerns at the Federal level.  According to the CO Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF), the CHP program was renewed for an additional four years, on Feb. 9, 2018.

“We wanted to get the word out that CHP is funded and available for some County residents,” said Crystal Brandt, County Public Health Nurse.

CHP is public low-cost health insurance for certain children and pregnant women.  It is for people who earn too much to qualify for Health First Colorado (CO’s Medicaid Program), but not enough to pay for private health insurance. .

“Congress took an important step forward and found a long-term solution to restore federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program,” said Kim Bimestefer, executive director for HCPF.
