CLEAR CREEK COUNTY OPEN SPACE COMMISSION PURCHASES LAND IN
SILVERDALE RECREATION AREA
(GEORGETOWN, CO) – On Thursday, May 27th, The Clear Creek County Open
Space Commission closed on the purchase of the Anna Mining Claim,
located in the Silverdale Non-motorized Recreation Area. The Anna
claim was the last remaining private parcel located within the
Silverdale Recreation Area, which is managed by the Historic District
Public Lands Commission.
“This was an extraordinary achievement,” explains Frank Young,
Chairman of the Open Space Commission. “Many individuals worked hard
to make this acquisition happen, none of which would have been
possible without the cooperation and commitment of the previous
owners, Brooks and Shirley Lingo.”
The acquisition of the Anna claim accomplishes a number of open space
goals, including watershed protection, preservation of viewsheds and
steep slopes, and promoting public recreation. It will be managed in
conjunction with the Historic District Public Lands Commission, of
which the Clear Creek County Open Space Commission is a member.
The Anna claim, which is approximately 5 acres, increases Clear Creek
County Open Space management to 1,376.84 acres.
