Concealed Handgun Permit
Carrying a concealed handgun in the state of Colorado requires a permit, which is typically issued by the Colorado county of residence. Once granted, permits are valid for a period of five years, at which time the permit holder must apply for permit renewal updated photo. By Colorado state statute, persons must always have the permit accessible whenever carrying a concealed handgun. The application requirements for both an initial permit and a renewing permit are described in the table below.

Colorado State Driver's License Applicant must be a resident of Clear Creek County
$52.50 cashier's check or money order made payable to the CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) Fee covers a background check by the FBI and CBI. Persons convicted of a felony or domestic violence are not eligible for a concealed handgun permit. Other applicants can be denied based on Colorado statute or by the discretion of the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office.
$100 check, cash, or money order made payable to the Clear Creek County Sheriff or Credit/Debit Card Fee covers administrative cost of processing the application.
Copy of a handgun safety class certificate Classes and certificates are offered by various agencies in the Denver-metro area. Consult your phonebook for resources and availability.
Photo and fingerprints Will be taken by the Sheriff's Office at the time application is submitted in person.
90 day waiting period Time will begin upon Sheriff's Office acceptance of application
