Tactical Team
The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office Tactical Unit (SWAT) was established in 2005, to meet the special policing needs of Clear Creek County. The initial funding for the equipment used by the unit was provided through Homeland Security grants. The team structure includes a tactical commander and team leaders who have responsibility for various specialties within the unit. The team includes entry elements, precision rifle elements, and tactical emergency medical elements.

The unit's missions range from high risk warrant service, high risk prisoner transport, personal security protection details, fugitive apprehension, barricaded gunmen, hostage situations, active shooter incidents, etc. Because of the rural nature of Clear Creek County, the unit emphasizes tactics used for working in mountainous terrain.

Training & Proficiency
Team members are required to maintain high training standards and weapons proficiency. Team members are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are able to respond immediately from their location to any call-outs or incidents within the county or in other jurisdictions as requested. Though the unit was recently formed, many of the team members have extensive SWAT experience with other law enforcement agencies and are instructors at various SWAT/tactical courses across the country.
