Emergency Notification System

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office Communications Center has contracted with Emergency Communications Network, Inc. for its "CodeRed®" high-speed telephone emergency notification services sometimes referred to as "Reverse Notification ". The CodeRed system allows emergency dispatchers the ability to deliver public safety messages to targeted areas or the entire county at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour. This service includes those residents and businesses in the municipalities of Idaho Springs, Empire, Georgetown and Silver Plume as well as the unincorporated area of the county.

Telephone Database

Clear Creek County Sheriff Rick Albers cautions that such systems are only as good as the telephone database supporting them. One reason that we chose to replace our existing system with CodeRed® was that many citizens in the county no longer have a traditional land-line phone and use cellular or VOIP technology and may not be at their home when an emergency message is sent. CodeRed® allows citizens to not only update their home and business information but to add additional contact phone numbers that they would like to have notifications sent to.

No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included. Residents of Clear Creek County and business owners are encouraged to add their information.

Those persons who do not have access to the internet can have their information added by calling 303-679-2376 during normal business hours.

For additional information on this important public service, you can call Supervisor Tom Dale at 303-679-2382.
