Clear Creek County Animal Shelter

Charlie’s Place, the Clear Creek/Gilpin County Animal Shelter, serves the residents of Clear Creek and Gilpin counties. The shelter provides nourishment and a safe environment for abandoned, homeless, stray, and impounded dogs and cats.

Services

The shelter offers the public surrender and adoption services, microchipping, and spay/neuter vouchers for dogs and cats, and dog licenses. In addition, the shelter periodically hosts vaccination and wellness clinics for dogs and cats. The shelter staff are dedicated to educating the public about responsible pet ownership and are committed to finding loving, appropriate homes for adoptable shelter animals.

Driving Directions

Take Interstate 70 to the 234 (Downieville) Exit if coming from the west, or the 235 (Dumont) Exit if coming from the east. Cross the Dumont bridge over Interstate 70 and head right on the frontage road for 1/2 mile. The shelter is a large green building at the end of the road.
