County Reminds All to Prepare for Fire Season, Avoid Smoke Threats

County Reminds All to Prepare for Fire Season, Avoid Smoke Threats
Temporary Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Active Now
June 12, 2018 - Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Clear Creek County officials are reminding residents and visitors to prepare for what to do before a wildfire, and during one---including how to avoid potential health threats from wildfire smoke.

“With wildfire season upon us, we are reminding people to prepare ahead of time, while taking care of yourself, your family and pets,” said Rick Albers, Clear Creek County Sheriff.
Part of this preparation (according to the EPA) includes knowing who in your family is most ‘at-risk’ (elderly, children and those with asthma, heart/lung disease, etc.), stocking up on needed medications, organizing those important items you may need (financial/personal documents), proper use of an air cleaner and/or mask; and, staying in touch to get the latest news and alerts.

As for what to do during a fire, follow instructions from local officials, stay inside, limit smoke inhalation, use portable air cleaners, and follow health warnings and local air quality reports.
