Clear Creek Prospector Hits Record Service for June

Clear Creek Prospector Hits Record Service for June

July 10, 2018 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Clear Creek County’s Prospector Bus had a record 270 riders last month, beating the previous month’s 214 ridership record (May 2018).

“We are truly excited to see the increased turnout and daily use from residents and visitors,” said John Bryan, County Communications.

In addition to the increased ridership, the Prospector expanded its hours, starting June 4th. The new schedule adds a morning and afternoon loop, and also now stops at the Idaho Springs Macy/Ruth Mill Park at 7th ave. and Colorado Blvd. Stops include: Georgetown, Empire, Dumont (Post Office), and Idaho Springs.

“By expanding the route from 7am to noon, then starting the afternoon route at 2pm (running until 6:30pm), it gives people a better option for getting to work, going to the clinic, or shopping for groceries—all at a very affordable price.” Fares run $1 (in-town), $2 (town-town), and a 50% discount for seniors, students and children. Books of ‘10’ tickets can be purchased from the bus drivers for $10---one ticket is good for any length of a one-way trip, saving riders money.

“From the recent transportation study, one of the things we heard from people was the need to expand the Prospector bus service; and, this new schedule does just that,” Bryan added. The Prospector runs Monday – Friday (no weekends), and is equipped with a hydraulic lift for special needs and two wheelchair accessible spots.

The new Prospector schedule also connects (Saturdays & Sundays excluded) to the CDOT BUSTANG , which stops in Idaho Springs (Sunday – Saturday), six times per day. The BUSTANG goes eastbound to the Denver Bus Station, and westbound to Grand Junction.
