Prospector Bus Hits Record Service for August, Surpasses 2017 Ridership

Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Clear Creek County’s Prospector Bus had a record 302 riders last month, beating the previous record of 270 riders in June. In addition to the new record, ridership through August has already surpassed all of 2017 ridership (1,374). As of Aug. 31, 1,657 riders have taken the County’s Prospector bus in 2018.

“We want to truly thank everyone for their support in making this happen,” said John Bryan, County Communications and Prospector Director. “Our goal for 2018 was 2000 riders, and we’re well on our way to meeting and exceeding that,” he added.

In June, the Prospector expanded its hours, adding a morning and afternoon loop; and, also now stops at the Idaho Springs Macy/Ruth Mill Park at 7th ave. and Colorado Blvd. Stops include: Georgetown, Empire, Dumont (Post Office), and Idaho Springs.

“By expanding the route from 7am to noon, then starting the afternoon route at 2pm (running until 6:30pm), it gives people a better option for getting to work, going to the clinic, or shopping for groceries—all at a very affordable price,” said Bryan. Fares run $1 (in-town), $2 (town-town), and a 50% discount for seniors, students and children. Books of ‘10’ tickets can be purchased from the bus drivers for $10---one ticket is good for any length of a one-way trip, saving riders money.

The Prospector runs Monday – Friday (no weekends), and is equipped with a hydraulic lift for special needs and two wheelchair accessible spots.

The new Prospector schedule also connects (Saturdays & Sundays excluded) to the CDOT BUSTANG , which stops in Idaho Springs (Sunday – Saturday), six times per day. The BUSTANG goes eastbound to the Denver Bus Station, and westbound to Grand Junction.
