Clear Creek County Receives Colorado Lottery 2018 Starburst Award

Dec. 4, 2018 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Clear Creek (and Jefferson County) County was recently awarded the 2018 Colorado Lottery Starburst Award for Clear Creek Canyon Park. The actual award was presented to the County at the Board of County Commissioners’ regularly scheduled Dec. 4 meeting.

According to their press release, “..the project area is a collaborative effort between (both Counties) well as the Colorado Department of Transportation, on a 4-mile segment of the Peaks to Plains Trail that straddles both Counties in Clear Creek Canyon...” Three miles opened to the public July 28, 2016, after more than three years of challenging design, permitting and construction, per the release.

“Clear Creek County Open Space is thrilled that the Colorado Lottery has recognized the Peaks to Plains Trail (Clear Creek Segment) with a 2018 Starburst Award,” said Martha Tableman, Clear Creek County Open Space Coordinator. “Working with Jefferson County Open Space to build the 3 plus miles of trail, we have created a unique trail that provides easy access to Clear Creek in the Canyon which was not available before.”

According to their website, “…Starburst Awards recognize excellence in the use of Lottery funds for community and conservation projects. Winners are chosen based on the creativity of the project, economic and social impact on the community, and whether the project achieved its goal...”
