County Employee Earns Top Certification in Planning

Nov. 16, 2018 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Fred Rollenhagen, County Community Development Director, recently earned his American Institute of Certified Planners certification (AICP). Per the American Planning Association’s website, AICP is “…the only nationwide, independent verification of planners’ qualifications…” The certification requires academic qualifications, relevant work experience, a mastery of essential skills, and a commitment to high ethical standards.

“As a long-time Clear Creek County employee and planner, I’m honored to receive this professional certification. I look forward to continuing to help the County realize its community master plan vision to ‘improve upon the existing quality of life by supporting the development of a diverse economy, protecting natural and cultural resources, becoming a more resilient community, encouraging recreation, and recognizing the County’s distinct areas’,” said Rollenhagen.

To gain AICP certification, in addition to meeting minimum education and work experience, applicants must pass an AICP Certification Exam. The Exam is developed by task forces of experts in the field of planning, and prep and study often takes several months. Once certified, AICP planners must maintain their certification through continuing education.
