COVID-19 (Learn More Messages)

Posted on: September 2, 2020

After Easter, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and every other major holiday since the pandemic began, cases of COVID-19 went up across the state and country.  Enjoy the Labor Day holiday, but take care of yourself and others – including essential workers like grocers, teachers and nurses who are keeping Colorado running.  When you go out in public, wear a mask, watch your space, and wash your hands.  It is also safest to avoid large gatherings and to stay close to home.

Traveling increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19 because you are in contact with more people in more places.  Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others.  Adults and children may catch or spread COVID-19 to or from others – including travel companions, those they are visiting, and members of the various communities they travel through – for 14 days after being exposed to the virus.  Many people are asymptomatic, meaning they feel well and do not have any symptoms, but they have the virus and are contagious.  After anyone travels via plane, train, or bus – either to or from their destination – it is recommended that they self-quarantine for two weeks.

Explains Dr. Timothy Ryan, County Public & Environmental Health Director, “Quarantine is one of the most effective public health tools for minimizing the spread of COVID-19.  The vast majority of cases we have seen in Clear Creek are from individuals visiting from other areas or residents that are returning home from traveling outside of the county.”

For more about traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic, please review the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website-

You should also check with your employer and/or your child’s school for any specific requirements for returning.

Clear Creek County Government Offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.
