Clear Creek EMS (CCEMS) is a paid ambulance service that responds to all medical calls from the Eisenhower/Johnson Tunnels to Floyd Hill on Interstate 70 - a service district of 350 square miles. We serve an estimated population of 6,500 residents, yet 60% of our patient population is non-county residents. Within our service area are 5 towns, numerous rural subdivisions, two ski areas, four “fourteeners” and many peaks over 12,000 feet; a federal wilderness area and a 30 mile stretch of Interstate 70. We staff two Advanced Life Support ambulances 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the ability to dispatch a total of five ambulances if needed. On a typical shift, a crew can run medical calls in town, ski area transports, backcountry rescues and motor vehicle accidents on winding mountain roads or on the busy interstate. The diverse nature of our calls and long transport times requires not only common sense and good patient care but the love of the outdoors and the challenges it brings.
