Today's law enforcement agencies are being asked to deliver an ever-broadening range of services to the communities we serve. For example, the requirements to maintain homeland security have become extensive and onerous in the post 9/11 era. Incidents involving active shooters and barricaded subjects have become more common in schools and elsewhere. The manufacture and use of highly addictive and alarmingly destructive drugs such as Methamphetamine are becoming more prevalent, especially in rural areas.  The growing popularity of our back country has increased the need for specialized equipment such as snowcats, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's) and snowmobiles.

In response to these evolving demands, the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office formed the Special Operations Division in 2004. The Division consists of several teams -- each with their own specialization -- which have been consolidated under a single organizational structure. This allows for the most effective training and utilization of the elite members who serve with their respective areas of expertise. Currently, the Special Services Division is comprised of the Tactical Team (aka "S.W.A.T."), Search and Rescue, and Homeland Security.
