Public and Environmental Health
Our Mission

To promote, protect and improve the lifelong health of individuals and communities in Clear Creek County through the effective use of data, evidence-based prevention strategies, leadership, advocacy, partnership and the pursuit of health equity.

This is best summarized in Colorado’s 10 Essential Public Health Services.

Prevention: Everyday for Everyone
Every day public and environmental health programs in your community are in effect promoting health and preventing disease. Many public and environmental health activities are required by the state. Preparing for a health emergency, preventing the outbreak and spread of disease, offering health screenings, establishing local health policies and providing educational services are critical programs in a community-based health mission. Our role is to control and prevent diseases, protect against environmental hazards, promote safety, respond to disasters, teach healthy behaviors and ensure the quality and accessibility of health services for everyone. Conducting disease investigations and providing public health nursing services to those in need focuses on community-based health for everyone. Just as public libraries and public roads are an important and valued service, so too are the services of Clear Creek Public and Environmental Health. We all need medical care some of the time, but we need public health all of the time.

Partners in Prevention
Clear Creek Public and Environmental Health (CCPEH) works in partnership with the Health and Human Services Department (HHS), Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the county to provide comprehensive services. Assessment activities are a critical function of CCPEH, and to the advancement of health through a strategic planning process. A Board of Public Health and a Health Advisory Committee assist CCPEH in addressing the health concerns of the county. Environmental factors including poverty, housing, employment, food and transportation influence health status. CCPEH partners with many organizations to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
