Idaho Springs, COLO.
June 15, 2023, 7:30 AM
On the morning of June 15, 2023, the Rocky Mountain Combined Tactical Team executed a “high risk” search warrant in the 2900 block of Riverside Drive, City of Idaho Springs, COLO. The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division located suspected fentanyl, methamphetamines, and firearms inside the residence. Mr. Jesse Speed, age 46, was arrested for felony possession of weapons by a previously convicted offender, possession of more than 4 grams of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, and body artist violation of parental consent for minors.
The investigation started with parents disclosing that Mr. Speed had tattooed their child and discussed providing a weapon to the juvenile. Shortly thereafter, investigators discovered that Mr. Speed had offered to obtain drugs and firearms for others. Mr. Speed is a previously convicted felon who also has a conviction for illegally tattooing juveniles in Kansas.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about Mr. Speed’s contact with juveniles to contact investigators with the Sheriff’s Office at 303-679-2393.
The Rocky Mountain Combined Tactical Team consists of members of municipal and county law enforcement agencies in both Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. To further provide for a safe and expedient execution of the search warrant, two K9 units from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
Mr. Speed is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
