Strategic and Community Planning
The Community Development Division includes the permitting departments of Building, Planning, and Site Development (County Engineer) as well as the departments and programs of Special Projects, County Lands, Water Resources, Housing, Colorado State University (CSU) Extension, and the Open Space Commission. Each of these departments play specific rolls in the development of land, protection of natural resources, and community enhancement for the County. The Division also works very closely with other various County departments including Environmental Health, Mapping, and Public Works.
The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for administration and processing of applications for rezonings, division of lands, subdivisions and other land use cases.
The services provided by the Building Department are aimed at protecting the public's safety by regulating the design, construction, materials, use and occupancy, and maintenance of buildings and structures within the unincorporated areas of Clear Creek County.
Find information on annual open space reports, requests for proposals, current projects, maps, and more.
The Site Development Department reviews design and excavation plans, issues permits, and monitors performance for driveways and building sites. The Site Development Department is the builders' "initial contact" and guide through the process prior to applying for a building permit.

The Colorado Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible Colorado families, seniors and individuals pay a portion of their winter home heating costs. The LEAP program works to keep communities warm during the winter (November through April) by providing assistance with heating costs, equipment repair and/or replacement of inoperable heating tools. While the program is not intended to pay the entire cost of home heating, LEAP aims to help alleviate some of the burdens that come with Colorado's colder months. For applications, please contact 303-670-7550 to reach Stephanie McCaulley at 1969 Miner Street, Idaho Springs or 303-679-2364 to reach Tracy Troia at 405 Argentine Street, Georgetown.
