Environmental Health (EH) is a function of the Public and Environmental Health Department. EH concentrates on controlling factors that impact public health and the environment around us. Locally, we oversee the permitting, installation and use of onsite wastewater treatment systems, protect our water sources (surface and subsurface) from contamination and monitors outdoor air quality. Our counterparts at the state health department currently manage all routine and complaint inspections for food establishments, childcare facilities and schools.
Environmental Health is split up into two main areas of focus: Environmental Protection and Consumer Protection. Below is a breakdown of programs and services we offer to the community.
