Special Operations

The Special Operations Division consists of the administrative functions, (to include Records and Civil process,) the Investigations Unit, special teams, and other community services.  In addition to these core public safety functions, the Special Operations Division coordinates involvement in other public safety operations such as wildland fire, search and rescue, and emergency operations.

Today's law enforcement agencies are being asked to deliver an ever-broadening range of services to the communities we serve. For example, the requirements to maintain homeland security have become extensive and onerous in the post 9/11 era. Incidents involving active shooters and barricaded subjects have become more common in schools and elsewhere. The manufacture and use of highly addictive and alarmingly destructive drugs such as Methamphetamine and Fentanyl are becoming more prevalent, especially in rural areas. The growing popularity of our backcountry has increased the need for specialized equipment such as snowcats, All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and snowmobiles.
