The Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office and Town of Georgetown Enter into Long-Term Agreement for Law Enfo

Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office Posted on December 16, 2025

Effective immediately, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) will provide long-term law enforcement services for the Town of Georgetown, Colorado. Since December 2024, the CCSO has been providing law enforcement services for Georgetown through temporary intergovernmental agreements. These short-term agreements allowed time for the Town to determine whether to reinstate its police department or contract with the CCSO long-term.

On November 25, 2025, the Town of Georgetown’s Board of Selectmen approved a 5-year Intergovernmental Agreement for Law Enforcement Services. The Clear Creek County Board of County Commissioners approved the agreement on Tuesday, December 9. Terms of the agreement include:

  • Phased-in patrol presence of up to three deputies for a combined 120 hours/week
  • Patrol supervisor to serve as point of contact for Town of Georgetown
  • Criminal investigations and evidence services
  • Public records services
  • Code enforcement services

Patrol Captain Eric Rubin explains how “this agreement really is a win for the town and for our office. The town had a need for law enforcement services and the Sheriff’s Office has the experience and resources to fulfill that need. Together, we have come to an agreement that will serve the town well and ensure consistent law enforcement for many years to come.”

Annual costs for law enforcement services will not exceed $633,000, with quarterly payments of $52,750 per assigned deputy. Until the first deputy is assigned, the CCSO will provide law enforcement services for the town at a rate of $12,500 per month. The Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting for the deputy positions to be assigned to Georgetown.
